I doubt many people will be reading this besides peeps who know me, but - a little background, just for the heck of it: I'm Kyle Magsino (or Mastah Zam, one of my usual online pseudonyms as some of you might know me; also the source of the blog name in case you were wondering), a Carnegie Mellon University student studying Mechanical Engineering with an additional major in Japanese studies. I'm a pretty big fan of Japanese video games and anime/manga, which is what got me into studying Japanese in the first place.
After studying for several years, I'm finally visiting Japan (along with my girlfriend, Stephanie Chiu, who will likely be in most of my stories, so I'll mention that now- if I speak in plural and we, that's why. And I like name dropping. =3) via a foreign exchange program with Keio University for the Spring 2013 semester! This blog is here to record my adventures and hopefully amuse anyone who happens to come across it.
I just got to Japan last night, and this is my first time using this blogger thingy, so it's not too fancy looking yet, but ah well. I also haven't really had any adventures yet, but I figured I might as well get started with a little intro post like this. And some random pictures I took yesterday while I was figuring out how to use my dad's camera. XD A random picture on the train, and our first dinner in Japan.
Here's a random picture I took on the train. So very exciting. ^^;
And this was our dinner from last night! Just bento boxes:
left: shougayaki [ginger pork], right: beef curry
... I was a little sad at the lack of... beef in the beef curry, but it was pretty okay. I actually wanted katsu curry, but they were sold out by night time. D= We didn't know what the shougayaki was at the time of ordering, but it was pretty good, so no complaints here. c:
Anyways, that's all for now! Still getting settled in and such, but I'll try to keep regular updates. Weekly, hopefully. Whatever the case, hope you keep up with my future posts. =D

ReplyDeleteI hope you are having fun out there assimilating and enjoying the cultural differences but also do some studying as well as attend your classes.
